Wednesday is pre-party day at Viva Las Vegas and it kicks off with our annual meet up and group picture at the Las Vegas sign.
It gets complicated trying to fit everyone in the picture, and sometimes there's a long line at the sign, but we always manage to get a great photo.
Waiting in line provides the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends before the craziness of the weekend fully starts.
Spirits are so high that you can't find a more fun line waiting experience! Seeing friends from all over the country and even Australia is what VLV is all about. Ok, we said above that Wednesday is pre-party day, so onward to the party! Welcome to Rancho Ronny!
Every year Ronny Weiser, founder of Rollin' Rock Records, holds a party at his house for those in Vegas early. It's dubbed, The International Rockabilly Rebels Meet and Greet! Ronny has a fantastic house with a huge backyard for entertaining. The inside is basically a living museum filled with unique items and personality. Ronny is beyond generous opening his home to everyone, thank you!
Probably the coolest part of the party is seeing many of the VLV acts perform before the weekend officially starts. Especially the foreign bands who have usually been in town a few days sightseeing. Crystal and Running Wild came all the way from Belgium and even though we saw them play a few days earlier in L.A. it was great seeing them again in such an intimate setting.
Another out of towner was Jake Calypso, from France. Jake was probably the act we most looked forward to for the weekend so you can imagine our excitement when we saw him at Ronny's.
The stars are everywhere! With Jake, on the left. And Rollin' Rock legends Rip Masters and Ray Campi on the right!
We had to leave Ronny's house a bit early to hurry back and catch Del's Motorbilly Radio show live from Brendan's Pub at The Orleans. Del was so nice to have me back again this year for a on-air interview.
Stay tuned for round 2 of the pre-parties!
