Rock N Roll Hall of Famer, Dion to headline Viva Las Vegas Car Show April 4th with the Sonics!

The Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend is a yearly rockabilly festival, now in its 18th year, which takes place at the Orleans Hotel in Las Vegas. It is promoted by Tom Ingram, who has been actively involved in the Rockabilly scene for over 30 years.

This year Viva Las Vegas is proud to announce that original Rock-n-Roll hall of famer, Dion will be headlining this year’s VLV Car Show on Saturday April 4th. Dion was legendary in the 50s and is still who has had more than a dozen Top 40 hits including ‘The Wanderer,’ ‘Runaround Sue,’ and ‘Teenager in Love.’ In addition to his many hits in decades past, he has had 3 recent Top 40 hits in 2007.

Original 60's garage rock band The Sonics will also perform. They are well-known for their hard hitting killer riffs on songs like ‘The Witch’ and ‘Strychnine’, and have influenced countless bands since the 60's. The band reformed in 2007 after decades of retirement because their fans demanded it.

Keeping with the tradition in recent years of bringing cutting edge new bands to the VLV Rockabilly audience, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis will also be performing. They are siblings from London who play a mix up of dirty RnB & blues, whiskey soaked country, haunting Hawaiian jungle drums and Gospel fever, with a punch in the face by Daisy's hard beat-boxing.
The Viva Las Vegas Car Show features 800–1,000 vintage cars, (which must be period correct, and pre 1963).

A 1955 Chevy Bel-Air Wagon that is in need of restoration will be towed to VLV18.  In one day, during the car show, a team will take this non-running vehicle from 0 to100.  Engine installation, transmission installation, wiring, wheels and tires, small amounts of painting, and even recovering the front seat with new upholstery will take place. Mackey's Hot Rods, out of Huntington Beach, will have a team of 5 skilled members that will work all day to complete the build.  By 4:30 PM, the plan is to fire up the engine, tune it, and to prepare for it's first drive back home to sunny Southern California! The live demo will be executed for car enthusiasts of any skill level, as well as show all attendees of the car show, what honed skills and hard work can produce in a day!
