VLV Fitness Challenge: Week 11

We are in the home stretch of the VLV Fitness Challenge and boy it feels good! I think we all learned a thing or two about ourselves during this challenge. Hopefully some of the things we have learned here we can keep with us and apply to our long term fitness plans after Viva. 

Personal Update: I did well this past week. I lost 3 lbs! I made sure to eat a lot of fruits and veggies this week as part of my reboot, and I also drank a lot of water (and NO alcohol). I am feeling really good about myself this week. I am really loving and appreciating my body right now, and that is a good feeling! I have "cheated" a little on my reboot. Okay, a lot. I have eaten breads, rice, oats...tortilla chips. It's just hard to be motivated, ya know? I'm going to try and do a perfect reboot for this week. Just one week, that won't be so hard right? 

This week's goals: Try something new! Variety is the spice of life. I recently changed up my workout routine. I started doing Hot Yoga almost daily. The class is in the evening, so I am hoping to still be able to fit in cycling, running and weights in, just in the morning before work. It feels good to change up your fitness routine. Why don't you try it? I hope you have been eating an rainbow everyday and getting a lot of variety in your diet. If not, why not try one of my favorite juice or smoothie recipes?

Elvis Smoothie: 
1 cup almond milk (or milk of your choice) 
1 frozen banana
1/3 cup peanut butter
1 tablespoon cacao nibs
1 serving chocolate protein powder (I use Raw)
1 tablespoon flax seed 

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie: 
1 cup almond milk (or milk of your choice) 
1/4 cup rolled whole oats
1 Tbsp. chia or flax seeds
1/4 cup organic pureed canned pumpkin 
1 serving protein vanilla powder 
1/2 – 1 Tbsp. maple syrup
1/2 frozen ripe banana
1-2 tsp cinnamon
3 ice cubes

Tropical Smoothie:
1 almond milk (or milk of your choice) 
1/2 cup frozen or fresh mango
1 fresh banana
1 cup pineapple chunks
1 serving vanilla protein powder 
1 tablespoon flax seed 

-to be made in juicer- 

My Mean Green: 
6-8 leaves kale 
large handful spinach 
1 cucumber
2 celery stalks
2 carrots 
2 apples

Pink Lady: 
6-8 leaves kale
1 – 2  small beets, peeled
4 carrots
1 orange, peeled
1 sweet potato, peeled

Sunrise Juice: 
1 sweet potato 
2 oranges, peeled
2 carrots 
1 red apple  

I can see the finish line. Let's do this!
