VLV Fitness Challenge: Week 7

It is really crunch time now! Viva will be here before we know it. That scares the hell out of me. I am ready, but so not ready! But, it is coming whether we are ready for it or not. 

Personal Update: I was bad this weekend. Are you noticing a trend here? Weekends have always been my downfall. On Saturday I went to see my husbands band play and had two drinks. I also had a lot of "not so good" food to eat that day. I did add in an extra workout on Saturday in anticipation of it, when normally Saturday is a rest day. I also tried to dance a lot. I was pretty good the rest of the days though. On Sunday I made my diet plan for the entire week and went shopping. I made a big pot of minestrone soup so I have a healthy low cal meal option all week. I did manage to lose .8 this week, which I am very happy about. I feel like that is a good rate of weightloss for me. I am hoping some juice, soup and salad will get me the weight loss I want next week too!

This week's goal: This is the week I have been dreading, but it is time. 
Switch it up! Now that you've established a gym routine, consider trying some new activities. For example, swap out a treadmill session for a spin class, try a new class or add yoga to your workout schedule one day a week. Varying exercises can stimulate muscle groups and keep you from getting bored.  

I have been dreading it because when the time change hits, that is when I start doing two-a-days. I start jogging in the AM before work and then still hit the gym in the PM after work. It sucks. It really really sucks. I hate waking up earlier in the morning, but I always feel accomplished after I am done. I preform better at work too! Then when I hit the gym in the PM, I can skip jogging and do a different activity instead, like cycling or swimming. So let's hope the weather is kind to me once the time change hits so I can head outdoors for some jogging! Feel free to follow me on Instagram to keep up with my (nearly) daily fitness updates!

  1. How do you maintain a set when you're working out twice a day? I live in Florida and it is impossible for me to workout without sweating and being gross at the end and my hair can rarely be saved. Most of the time I don't bother doing any kind of overnight or heated set because I don't have time or I'll have to wash my hair.

  2. You can re-pin your hair in pincurls and cover with a bandanna before you work out. However, for that reason I wore my hair straight last week and this week. Today I did an updo with a pomp and a messy bun with a bandanna. When it comes down to it, we can't use messing up our hair as an excuse not to exercise. Health is more important then hair, right?

    1. Absolutely I agree. I wear my hair straight most days because of working out. I like the idea of updos and bandanas to still look the way I want without setting my hair. Thanks!

  3. Thanks for this Viva preparation pep talk, I'm feeling like my efforts aren't showing much, and makes me want to stop trying. I have to keep my eyes on the prize!
