Continued from my Rhythm Bomb Weekender: Friday post
While attending the Rhythm Bomb Weekender I stayed in a hotel by the venue. I only live about an hour away but I wanted to make a legitimate weekender out of it. All of the entertainment takes place at night so I had an afternoon to kill. My friend Deen and I ended up doing some shopping on old town Pomona's "Antique Row".
I went to Futures Collide, La Bomba and a few antique malls. I came home with some cheap vintage clothing, a vintage hamper and a record rack.
Here are the goodies I got:
After some shopping we went swimming at the hotel pool and then got ready for the night.
The first band up for the night was the ever-popular Lil' Mo and The Dynaflos. They really know how to get a party started. Their rockin' doo wop and 50's R&B always gets the dance floor jumping.
I wore a vintage gold lurex dress I got in Boston. I did my hair up in a 50's style feax bob. Everyone looked great that night!
There are always live DJs spinning vinyl between the bands. This time we were graced with Miss Tayva from Palm Springs. DJ Rockin' Vic was also DJing, which is always a pleasure.
The next band for the night was The Shadowmen from New Mexico. They have been playing this area more lately. You can see them at the next School of Rock N Roll on Valentines Day!
I went to this weekender solo because my husband was on tour. I was glad to have a lot of great company though!
The Rip 'Em Ups were also booked. I had seem them the week prior at the New England Shake-Up so it was great to see them again back in CA! They do exactly what their name implies- they rip the place up with their 1950's rock and roll sound.
The headliner for the night was Miss Ruby Ann all the way from Portugal. She looked stunning in a green fringe dress with rhinestone straps. The dress was a perfect companion to her sassy performance. She had three local singers backing her up, including Corinna Corinna from San Francisco. Corinna did a couple of solo songs as an opener before Ruby Ann came out and she did great! It was a treat to see Miss Ruby Ann all the way from Portugal, that's for sure!
A great time was had by all! Thanks to Rhythm Bomb Records and Real Gone Productions for putting on such a fab weekender! Real Gone Productions puts on the School of Rock N Roll every month, so if you are local you should check it out!
