Well friends, it's already that time of year again- time to start the 12 Week Viva Las Vegas Fitness Challenge! Last year was the first year I did a structured 12 week fitness challenge prior to VLV and invited my friends to join me. I used a 12 week fitness plan from my gym (that they charge big bucks for), a diet plan from Reboot With Joe, and then then added my spin on it all. We all weighed in weekly and reported our progress. Then at the end we all celebrated our success. I did great last year and ending up losing 19 lbs that I had gained back during the past (particularly stressful) year.
So, I decided to do it again this year. The challenge will start next Tuesday the 21st. It will go on for 12 weeks and end on the day I leave for Viva Las Vegas. This challenge is a great way to inspire you to reach a personal goal, but it doesn't necessarily have to be for VLV, you can join in even if you are not going. I will post every Tuesday to update you on my progress, and provide the challenge for that week. As I mentioned, I am going off of a 12 week plan from my gym, so each week I will provide what the plan says for that week- for example, creating a work out schedule, nutrition do's and don'ts, and how to amp up your metabolism. So make sure to check back often!
I will also been updating everyone on my progress via my Instagram page, so make sure you add me. Every week you can leave me a comment here to share your progress, or share on your own Facebook or IG page. Let's use the hashtag #VLVfitnesschallenge to round up all of the posts into one spot.
Before we may start, we need to set a goal. My goal is to lose the last stubborn 5 lbs. After the holidays it is more like 7 lbs. So, I'm going to round out my goal to 5-10 lbs and just see how it goes. Your goal can be weight loss oriented like mine, or something completely different, like to lose inches, be able to jive an hour straight, or to get killer calves in heels. Whatever your goal is, just make sure to set one! Although we are in this 12 week challenge together, it's not a contest or anything. The challenge is personal to each person and is what you want to make of it. You can also share your goal in the comments below or on social media using the #VLVfitnesschallenge hashtag. Or, you can choose to keep it to yourself, it's up to you!
Once we have a goal set, we need to decide how we are going to achieve it. I feel the most important part of the challenge, at least for myself, will be a healthy diet. I can't lose weight unless I am eating well and working out. So, my diet is always the first place I start. Last year I did a "reboot" to kick off my 12 week challenge and it was awesome! I started with a 5 day reboot, and after 5 days I felt so great that I went for another 5 and then 5 more. I hope to do this same reboot plan again. For more info on the reboot plan I will be doing, see my prior post on rebooting or visit Reboot With Joe to pick out a plan for yourself. Really, you can follow any eating plan that works for you.
I don't want to over load you all with too much info, so I will keep the rest of the plan for future posts. My next post will be on Tuesday, so you have until then to set your goal, choose a diet strategy and get shopping for some healthy foods!
