Outfit Of The Day: Red, White and Blue

10:46 PMDollie DeVille

I think I am really into this weekly theme when dressing. I may never go back to wearing whatever I feel like when I wake up in the morning! Okay, not really. I do enjoy that having a weekly theme helps you prepare the days outfit well in advance and saves time in matching accessories. I chose Red, White and Blue for this week's theme because it was Memorial Day and I was spending the weekend at the beach. So, I thought it was fitting. I wear red, white and blue very often, so this will not be the last time you see these combos. I am already planning Forth of July outfits!

Since Monday was a holiday we were off work. We went hiking in Palm Springs for the day, so my outfit was a hiking outfit. Not too special but here it is!

Modern top by French Connection UK, vintage clam diggers by Jantzen Casual Separates, and modern espadrilles from Spain. Vintage accessories. Hair flower by Belle Blossoms.

Vintage dress by Marcy Allen, modern red peep toe heels from Target and Flower from Belle Blossoms. Vintage bakelite accessories.

Modern dress from Chaps, modern cardigan and Remix Paseo Wedges. Vintage accessories.

It was a short work week and then we left to camp at the beach for the weekend. I thought nautical clothing transitioned well to camping at the beach, so I stuck with it. I wore a modern striped button down top with cute pockets and blue petal pushers. Flower by Belle Blossom.

We also spent two days in San Luis Obispo. Here I am at the Madonna Inn wearing a red ribbed tank, white grandpa cardigan with blue trim, blue cargo capris and blue and white boat shoes. When I can't do vintage I love the preppy look. Normally I pull it off a little better, but I was pretty dirty from camping at the beach all weekend!

If you are interested, I can share some more details about all of our recent weekend adventures in another post.

XOXO
Dollie

    1. Thank you! That may be my favorite modern dress. I wear it a lot! My husband thinks it is sexy because it is slinky, and I think it is sooooo comfy!

    1. I was hoping that was coming across. I don't like to wear my best vintage stuff to work, so I try and find classically styled pieces to mix into my work wardrobe.

  6. Are those espadrilles from espadrilles etc.? I've been looking at them for ages, but was curious about the quality and comfort.

    1. They are! I think the quality is about equal to the price you pay for them. I had mine about two years before the straps broke. I just tied them in a knot and kept wearing them! lol. I have no shame.
