Belle Blossoms Expands My Hair Horizons

9:00 AMDollie DeVille

I was so excited when Belle Blossoms contacted me to review their hair flowers. I have heard other bloggers rave about them but never had the pleasure of seeing them in person. To be honest, until this point I thought all hair flowers were created equal. I didn't know what could make one hair flower stand out above others. I had bought them from a lot of other companies (who shall remain nameless) and made them myself. Well, my opinion on hair flowers completely changed when I got my package  from Belle Blossoms. Firstly, everything was individually wrapped in beautiful printed tissue paper. Next I noticed how cute the little postcard it was attached to was.

When I went to remove the clip I saw that the metal portion of the clip was covered in a green leaf. ‘Nice touch Belle Blossom’, I thought. Still hesitant, I removed the clip from the cardboard, looked down and POW! This is the exact moment it happened. My hair flower clip world was forever changed. Are you ready…..

The inside of the clip had the Belle Blossom logo on it. How stinkin’ cute is that detail? I am a nut for details. This is why up until this point I thought my homemade hair flowers were fancy - because I put felt or left over greenery inside the clip. But I don’t have my name on it! Does anyone else? If so, I haven’t seen it. Okay Belle Blossoms, you win! I admit defeat.

From that moment on I loved them. I opened all the pretty little individually wrapped flowers with glee. By this point I already knew they were well made, which is a must for me. But then I started to notice how beautiful they were as well. They were all so unique, colorful, and with fun greenery added. They also smelled nice. Not in the way of “I added a ton of grandma perfume, look how fancy I am” way like others do it. They smelled subtly fresh and clean, nothing that would interfere with your regular scents.

The icing on the cake was the snood. Yes, not only do Belle Blossoms do hair flowers, but they also do fascinators, bows, and snoods. The snood was a beautiful yellow color that I did not own and that will go with a lot in my wardrobe (hellllooooo matching Bakelite). Better yet, the snood came with Original Grip-Tuths. How come I did not know about these? Apparently I was the last to know about how amazing these are. Thank you so much Belle Blossoms for bringing us together!

I couldn’t wait for this post to wear them so I have actually been wearing them for a few weeks now. I had to test them after all! Did you notice them in a lot of my Outfit Of The Day posts? Because a lot of the flowers have a color gradient effect I am able to match them to a lot of things. My favorite turned out to be the cherry clip, which didn’t surprise me. It just screams summer to me! You will see the snood make an appearance in the coming weeks as well, maybe in a 1940’s themed Outfit Of The Day post. If I had to come up with a negative aspect for this review, I would say it is that my cherry clip lost one of the little yellow centers. This was after I wore it a few times and it was from a flower on the edge that was in a position that makes it not noticeable. This happens all the time with the hair flowers I make, so I just glue them back on. No big deal to me, so in my opinion it is definitely not a deterrent. Thank you so much to Belle Blossoms for expanding my hair horizons beyond scarf’s and teaching me how to love hair flowers again.

If you would like to get one of the clips featured above, a snood or see what else they have in store, visit there website. You can also like them on Facebook.

  2. I have heard a LOT about BB. I have had some hair accessories from Jack's Daughter on etsy and was sorely disappointed because even when I had long hair they were awkward and didn't stay in. I'd have to bobby pin the bows. GRRRRR!!!! So seeing the same clip on these makes me a little skeptical. I have a pixie cut now. Do you think it would stay in my short hair for a long period of time??

    1. I think so! These clips seemed much more secure then the ones I have had in the past. I never had any slippage problems, even while dancing. If you ever need a little extra security, try adding your own felt inside. I do that with heavy barrettes to make them stay. If you get some hair flowers from BB, let us all know what you think!

  4. Oh. My. God. The awesomeness ahaha! I love them! Great work, Belle! :D

Dollie, I have a question for you! I am italian and here no one loves (or at least this is what I think) the rockabilly style but... I love it since I was like 8, and now I am 19! My self confidence is growing and I am starting to dress and act and everything the way I want to! :D I also bought a couple of amazing dresses yesterday and I am totally excited! :) Since I am a beginner, I don't know how to "introduce" myself into the rockabilly lifestyle, can you give me advice?
Also... I noticed that you have a lot of friends that loves the 50s as we do. Where did you find them? Ahah, I know it sounds odd, but I am planning to move to U.S and I would like to know how to make friends that share the same interest! :)

    Thanks for your patience! :)

  5. How lovely they all are! Something that you wear extremely well! I did go to their site, but couldn't find the cute cherry and flower clip - just a plain cherry one! :( You are lucky you got the flower one - it's so cute!)

  6. Thank you Dollie! I'm so happy that you like your blossoms!

Sean- The clips I use are very tight and do not slip even in very fine hair. The logo tags that I use serve a dual purpose, to show the brand and to provide even more grip against the clip.

RetroSandie- I sent the only one that I made to Dollie and forgot to take a picture before I sent it. It will be on the site soon.

  7. I loooooooove Belle Blossoms. I heard about them a few years back from the Lauren Rennels Vintage hairstyling book. Immediately ordered the most adorable red and leopard print flower. I have a ton of flowers but this is the one I wear the most. I can certainly speak on it's durability, I have had it maybe 2 years, wear it 1 to 5 times a week and it has not fallen apart. Gorgeous and sturdy. Seeing this post reminded me that I need to buy some more of their flowers. I want those grip combs too.
