Christmas Crafting with The Honeybees

1:22 PMDollie DeVille

Christmas is a favorite time of the year for The Honeybees Ladies Club. We love recreating vintage holiday crafts and making cookies. On this particular day, Honeybee VP Reagan was hosting the Hive Party.

She is a fantastic host and her home is lovely. She is beautiful inside and out.

Reagan surprised us with a new recipe:

Hard Cider Sangria
1 cup quartered and thinly sliced unpeeled green, yellow and red apples
1 navel orange—quartered and thinly sliced crosswise
1 cup apple juice, chilled
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup apple brandy
One 22-ounce bottle hard apple cider, chilled
Ice

In a pitcher, combine the apples with the orange, apple juice, lemon juice and brandy. Just before serving, add the hard cider. Serve over ice.

I wore a "new" dress from Valerie's Blvd Vintage Clothing. I loved the black/yellow and floral appliques. Unfortunately it was in poor condition, and even with mending before hand it fell apart before the end of the day. The fabric was dry and basically disintegrated. It was so sad! I will still try and salvage it though.

Look at this beautiful spread that Reagan made! Very festive for fall (it was in November).

She made mini quiches, pumpkin bread, scones, salad, and coffee.

It was so good! I wish I could eat it all over again! I bet Sandra agrees!

Once we had out fill we got down to crafting business. We were making vintage glass ornament wreaths.

We wrapped foam wreaths in tinsel garland.

Sandra made hers out of a wire wreath, and it worked just the same.

Then you hot glue on the ornaments.

This was how mine turned out. I liked it, but knew I could do better.

This is Sandra's, I love the color and the elf.

Reagan's came out great! I love her candy theme.

I got all of my ornaments from Salvation Army for a few bucks.

If you want to try and make one yourself for next Christmas, start collecting ornaments now and check out this how-to:

This was my second ornament wreath I made. I love the little deer and other little toys.

This was my third ornament wreath I made. I made it to match my bedroom. I love the Santa Claus and elves.

I also made this little craft at home based on a vintage Shiny Brite add Reagan found.

I just used leftover ornaments I had on hand. It still came out cute though! Next year I will make another one with color inordinated ornaments.

Another vintage craft we made were glitter putz houses:

You make them with a pattern, card board, glue and glitter. My favorite part was the hand-dyed bottle brush trees! I only got to make three houses, but I want to make some atomic houses next year!

Until then,

XOXO
Dollie

  1. So pretty! I love the little putz houses, and I'm definitely going to build myself a little village. Any excuse to use glitter!

Thanks for sharing these pics :)

  2. Those bauble wreaths turned out really well! They were quite popular in the shops this last Christmas, but it's nicer to make your own if you have the time and a stash of baubles to use up!

  3. What a shame your dress fell apart, its gorgeous and looked Fab. I am a huge sucker for pocketed day dresses.
