One More Thing About VLV......

About Viva Las Vegas.

Did you book your room yet? I hope so, because The Orleans sold out weeks ago. I must have mentioned this before, but it is worth saying again. To do VLV right, you have to stay at the host hotel, The Orleans. In order to stay there you basically have to book a year in advance. So, if you are a bad little socialite and didn't book your hotel yet, get on the waiting list now.

  1. There is no "right way" to do VLV as long as you have fun! Staying off-site is actually very refreshing. We enjoyed getting away from the crowds, and enjoying a relaxing time on our vacation. In past years we've always stayed at the Flamingo, which has wonderful kitsch factor, and a shuttle right out the door to the Orleans. This year we splurged and stayed at the Cosmpolitan- very lush and luxurious and well worth the money. The spa downstairs and jacuzzi in our room were fantastic after the car show and a night of dancing.
So, "having" to stay at the Orleans isnt so, you can have a great time anywhere, and it doesn't make anyone less worthy of being included in the festivities of VLV

  2. I hate missing stuff and staying onsite saved time. LV has gorgeous hotels if you are there to see more than VLV (personally I am not).

I didn't get in the VLV rate but I got pretty close booking around Christmas time last year. This year a prebooked.

My first year we split 4 days at the Rio (which had fridges) and 2 at Orleans -it was okay cause we had a car the shuttle can be a time suck and carrying all your stuff around for the day is a drag.
